ACADEMIC SUPPORT
A Rutgers degree is ultimately what brings student-athletes to
the Newark campus.
Through the efforts of our Athletic Academic Coordinator and attention
by our coaching staff, student-athletes are assisted in reaching
their academic goals. Class performance and progress are monitored,
special needs are addressed on an individual basis, and academic
obligations are the paramount consideration for Scarlet Raider student-athletes.
The University offers tutoring assistance, study skills seminars
and research resources to support all Rutgers students.
ATHLETIC TRAINING
The Scarlet Raider Athletic Training staff takes care of all treatment,
rehabilitation and conditioning of our student-athletes. The head
trainer is a certified strength and conditioning coach as well as
a North America Trainers Association (NATA) member. The training
staff has a fully-equipped facility in The Golden Dome. The team
physician is on staff at the University Hospital, giving Scarlet
Raider student-athletes a comprehensive link to outstanding medical
services.
SPORTS INFORMATION
Exploits of Scarlet Raider student-athletes and their teams are
chronicled and publicized by the Sports Media Relations office which
provides stories, statistics and news to hometown newspapers, radio
and television. The office also maintains www.scarletraiders.rutgers.edu,
the athletic department’s web site, which is updated on a
daily basis during each team’s season.
HOUSING
University Square, a 16-story, 650-bed dormitory is set to open
in the Fall of 2006, moving Rutgers-Newark one step closer to the
"24-Hour Campus" that is the goal of the University. The
new cornerstone of on-campus housing is located adjacent to existing
dormitories just across the street from the center of campus and
only one city block from The Golden Dome Athletic Center and Alumni
Field.
Woodward Hall currently provides housing for most Rutgers-Newark
student-athletes. The modern, air-conditioned suites are adjacent
to classrooms and the Robeson Student Center – and are just
a block away from The Golden Dome and Alumni Field. Stonesby Commons,
the student dining hall, is attached to Woodward.
FINANCIAL AID
Rutgers-Newark offers all students the opportunity to apply for
a wide array of financial aid and loans. Located in Blumenthal Hall,
the Financial Aid Office helps students and their families through
the process of applying for and renewing financial aid packages.
